Pets and Painting

Brandy still does not like Shasta and she is always running away from her when she tries to play. We try to give them both lots of attention so that neither one feels left out. Norris took Brandy out for a walk which she loves.

So while Brandy was gone, Sasha decided to play with the cats. Rusty as usual is very good and it is almost as if he is saying - "oh no, not another one, I just got Brandy trained!!!" He just lets the puppy jump all over him.

Misty usually watches from a distance and ignores them all. This picture is very blurry as it is so hard to get a picture of them together. As soon as Sasha gets near, Misty takes off.

While everyone else was occupied, I went back to work on the dollhouse. I started to do the wallpaper on the bottom floor and I noticed that the insides of the windows and doors had not been painted. Since the windows and doors of this house fit on the outside, the side of the wood will show. The other dollhouse I did had windows and doors that fit right inside of the opening and therefore hid all the rough lumber.

David and Julie got out their paint brushes and helped to paint the sides of each opening. Once they have finished painting, I will wallpaper the bottom floor.

  1. Your new puppy so gorgeous. I have never had a dog but with the last child off to uni in September I am so tempted......

  2. Sasha is nearly as big as Brandy already and still a young pup. Brandy knows that Sasha is going to be a lot bigger than her when Sasha is grown up so she's scared. The cats also are probably aware that while they might be able to defend themselves now, they won't have that control when the boisterous youngster is bigger so they choose not to have a confrontation and take the safer course of not making an enemy of Sasha.

I have always had dogs and cats - bred and showed them - still have 6 dogs. What I've found is that you have to be the Leader of the Pack and behave as the boss, Brandy should be next in line and the younger dog last. There is always a strict pecking order among animals that they understand and respond to respectfully which will help you integrate your puppy into your household. The younger dog should be ignored and Brandy fussed over, that way Brandy knows she's still more important than the interloper and Sasha will know she has to respect her elders. Mind you, if Brandy shows a tendency to be mean you will need to curb that behaviour while still not making a fuss of the pup, that will keep the pecking order correct.
