Stained Glass Windows

Before I put the staircase in, I have to put in the window that is behind the staircase. I would never be able to reach it otherwise. As I got the windows out, I thought they looked so plain. They are supposed to represent stained glass windows so why not do them as stained glass?

I have gallery glass on hand as I use it a lot for making foods look moist or for anything that I want shiny. But I have never made stained glass before. Here is my opportunity to make stained glass windows.

I am quite pleased at how they turned out so I will now do the other windows as well. It gives more life to the windows rather than the plain while circles.

I also did some more work on the stairs. The sides looked so plain and I wanted to add some kind of trim. I settled for some rectangular shapes that I hope will give the illusion of panels once they are painted. I also filled in all the holes and spaces with spackle. Now I just have to wait for it to dry and then I will paint them.

  1. I love the stained glass look!! When you use the Gallery Glass does it automatically make the wavy look? This certainly calls for a trip to my local craft store and some experiments for sure.

  2. I am not sure of the proper way to use gallery glass. Normally I just pour it on top of the food I am making. This time I used a brush and dabbed it so that it would not be too thick. That is what gave the wavy look.

  5. Loving your stained glass windows! Did you do the leaded part too? I've never had much success with liquid lead and the strips are too wide for minis.

  7. Thanks everyone. Kathi, I did not do the leaded part. The kit contained plastic windows that already had the white lines on them. I just painted between the lines.
