One of the groups that I am in issued a Trash to Treasure challenge. We were given a list of items and we have to make something from them. Well the first thing I did was go on a scavenger hunt to find all the items. I have absolutely no idea on what I am going to do with them.
Then I needed to find a container to put the scene in. So again I searched for something suitable. Then I looked through my gift bags as I had seen several people do gift bags scenes and I always wanted to try one. One bag came to my attention and an idea started to form. (I'm not showing the bag yet as I want it to be in the final picture as a surprise.)
These are the objects I am going to use first. Do you have any idea on what they will make?
Because one of the lids is a creamy colour, I decided to cover them all with gesso and then they will all be the same colour. Also glue will adhere better to gesso than to the plastic lids. At this point I made a change and decided not to use the cotton balls as I might need them later. So instead of painting my objects, I covered them with spackle.
Here is the finished product. The first item for my scene. I am pleased with my little snowman and now I have to think of what to make from the other items.

Beautiful Doilies
When I first moved here, one of my new neighbours came over to see my dollhouse and miniatures. She was HOOKED! She immediately took up the hobby and started to create her own miniatures. It is fantastic to see what she has accomplished already.
She came over the other day and told me that she had a friend who made miniature doilies, blankets etc. and she had bought a bag full of them. Then she gave me these beautiful doilies, the runner and the pot holders.
Aren't friends wonderful. These will be beautiful in my new house. Thanks Angie!

Chimney
I finished the stonework on the chimney and I am pleased with how it came out. I used various chalk dusts on the egg carton stones to give it more of a realistic effect.
In this picture you can see the attic ladder on the trap door. When you pull down the trap door, the ladder slides in place. I think that I will leave the door open all the time so that the ladder is not lying across the floor.

The porch is completed
This porch was really hard to do and took me a long time as I had to do one section at a time. First the roof was angled and really had no hold on the wall. Then the railing sections did not meet properly with the roof. I had to take the sections apart a few times to adjust the size and angle.
But it finally was complete and David and Julie are quite happy with it.
Now I have to do the roof but I am waiting for the shingles. I have ordered them but it will take awhile before I get them and then they will all have to be painted a dark blue. All 2,500 of them. So it will be awhile.
Meanwhile I will go back to work on the chimney. I have a lot of egg cartons to cut up as I am also going to put stone work around the foundation of the house.
